Last seen playing a stingy don in Junga, Vijay Sethupathi has signed a new film with director Vijay Chandar, best known for directing Vaalu and Sketch. The announcement was made earlier this month when Vijay Chandar took to Twitter and wrote: “Happy to announce that I’ll be joining hands with my favorite hero Vijay Sethupathi for next film with Vijaya Productions. We’re set to roll from February (2019).”

Apparently, this yet-untitled project will be a commercial family entertainer that’ll be predominantly set in Chennai. The latest update is that D Imman, composer of films like Jilla and Seema Raja, has been signed to compose music for this film as well. Imman is currently working on Ajith’s Viswasam.

Talking about the project to the Times of India, Vijay Chandar had said: “I’ve met Vijay Sethupathi a few times, and during one of those meetings, I happened to narrate a one-liner about the film to him, and he was kicked. He has done a variety of roles, and he told that he wanted to do a mass film now. Even I like making mass commercial films, and we thought this script could work for both of us.” The team is yet to finalise the rest of cast and crew.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi is gearing up for the release of 96, his third release of the year. The film sees him join hands with lensman-turned-director Prem Kumar, who had previously worked with Vijay in Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom. He also has Super Deluxe, Seethakathi, Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and Karthik Subbaraj’s next yet-untitled project with superstar Rajinikanth in the offing.

Further, he is all set to make his acting debut in the Telugu film industry with the Chiranjeevi starrer Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. The shooting of this biopic on the legendary freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy is currently on and it is scheduled for release for Sankaranthi next year.
