Kannada star Darshan is awaiting the release of his next film, Yajamana. The film is slated to hit the marquee in March and his fans began celebrating it as his 50th film. However, with Kurukshetra also in the pipeline, there was some uncertainty about which will be the star’s 50th film. Darshan recently put an end to all the confusion pertaining to the number by making it clear that Kurukshetra will be his 50 film. It went on the floors much ahead of Yajamana and is still in the post-production mode due to the high amount of CG work involved.

On this, Darshan has been quoted by Cinema Express as saying, “Even though Yajamana is releasing earlier, Kurukshetra went on the floors first and it will remain my 50th. A mythological film requires a lot of time for shooting and graphic work. The producers have invested large amounts of money into the making too but I couldn’t wait any longer. It’s almost one-and-a-half years, and I still don’t have a film for release. It is messing with my head. I also know how much fans have been talking about this. So I felt this was the right decision. What number each film stands at doesn’t matter, it’s the effort that counts.”

Kurukshetra, which is directed by Naganna, is made on a budget of Rs 150 crore. The film is bankrolled by Muniratna under his banner KCN Movies. The film’s technical crew includes V Harikrishna for music, Jayanan Vincent for camera work and Jo Ni Harsha for editing. Being a high budget film and a historical, the filmmakers plan to release it in various languages including Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and others. The film has a bevy of stars in the cast including Darshan, Ambareesh, V Ravichandran, Arjun Sarja, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Meghana Raj, P Ravi Shankar, Sonu Sood, Nikhil Gowda, Aditi Arya and Shashi Kumar.
