Abita Healthcare, a Gurugram based health-tech startup has raised funds from Sky7Ventures and others. This is a seed funding for the startup and the amount invested has not been disclosed. Sky7Ventures is a Michigan, USA based early stage investor with global footprints.

The other investors in this Indian startup in the healthcare sector are Vignesh Ramanujam, Balasubramanian Sankaranarayanan, Navy Ramavat and Swapnil Mehta. How much each of them has committed to this round of funding is also not clear.

The two founders of the startup are both doctors, Jatin Kakrani and Avi Ramavat. They have associated a management graduate, Jitesh Kakrani in the project. The business model of Abita Healthcare involves an integrated operations solution for medical practitioners in running their clinics. Starting with just a handful of customers in November 2017, the startup now boasts of 40 such clinics that have adopted their programme. These are spread across just three cities, Indore, Pune and Ahmedabad.

They help with digitizing the entire process flow in a clinic and automates the different operations into a cohesive flow of data. The highlight of the offering from Abita Healthcare is the module Doc32 which is a comprehensive tool in the hands of the doctors. The moment a patient walks in and makes the registration, a screen opens on the monitor of the doctor with tabs that read Complaint, History, Diagnosis, Counselling, Treatment, Prescription and Invoicing.

In addition, the overall performance of the clinic is made into an analytical statement and displayed.

The funds now received will be used in expanding the geographical reach of the startup’s service to other cities and to add to the overall product mix.

Another interesting fact coming out of this report is that one of the investors in Abita in this round, Balasubramanian Sankaranarayanan, who is the EVP head, Thryve Digital Health, brings his domain knowledge in the sector and will be utilised fully by the company. The promoters and management of the startup claim their products are capable of effecting a saving of 20 to 30% on their costs.
