Indian-born actress Somi Guha who complained that Top Gear anchor Jeremy Clarkson should be sacked by the BBC for using a racist jibe says she was subjected to vile hate messages following the incident.

On a clip aired in the Top Gear special in Burma this March, the presenters including Clarkson were watching a Burmese man cross a makeshift bridge and Clarkson said, “That is a proud moment – but there is a slope on it.’

Recently Ofcom, (Federal Office of Communications, a broadcast watchdog) said that the usage of the racial term was not ‘justified by context’.

It added: ‘This was scripted in advance. The BBC failed to take the opportunity, either during filming or post-production, to check whether the word had the potential to offend viewers.’

The Metro.UK reports that Somi Guha faced a torrent of abuse, especially on Twitter, after she complained to Ofcom.

‘I’m glad I did what I did. If I hear Jeremy Clarkson make any more racist comments I won’t hesitate to do the same thing,’ Metro.uk quotes her as saying.
