Drugs, alcohol absent in Robin William's suicide

Putting an end to all speculations, the California authorities have confirmed that actor Robin Williams was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of his death, according to a BBC report.

The 63-year-old died due to asphyxiation from hanging on August 11, said a coroner’s report. His representative has also reported that the actor had been “battling severe depression.” He was last seen by his wife on August 10 and was found dead by his personal assistant next morning after the actor failed to respond to the door knocks.

His brilliant performances in Jumanji and Good morning Vietnam enthralled audiences and his role in Good Will hunting won him the Academy award.

Paying tribute to him, President Barack Obama said, “He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most - from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalised on our own streets.”
