Authorities here have stepped up measures to ensure security on the banks of Godavari river due to rise in water level keeping in view the rush of pilgrims attending the 12-day 'Pushkaram' festival. Visakhapatnam will be home for India's oldest warship and aircraft carrier INS Viraat, provided the state government submits a detailed project report to the Navy immediately. The last British-built aircraft carrier serving the Indian Navy since its acquisition in 1987, is all set to be decommissioned in 2016.
