TDP wants to rename airport after NTR, also demands Bharat Ratna for him

The News Minute | May 28, 2014 | 4:55 PM IST The Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday urged the Centre to confer Bharat Ratna on its founder-president and former chief minister N T Rama Rao on his 91st birth anniversary. TDP's current party chief also said he would also pursue the issue of renaming Hyderabad International Airport after NTR.On Wednesday,a resolution to this effect was adopted at the TDP's two-day annual conclave Mahanadu at Gandipet. Naidu said "It is the desire of all Telugus to see Bharat Ratna conferred on NTR. I will request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honour NTR with the highest civilian award. I will pursue the issue till the end". Naidu said that the actor turned politician has made a place for himself not only in Andhra Pradesh, but also in the country. Voicing his dissent against Congress he said "The old airport bore NTR's name, but the Congress unceremoniously removed it. Now that the Union civil aviation ministeris our man, I will pursue the issue and get the Hyderabad airport named after NTR". Inputs from IANS
