Slapped by teacher: Five-year-old succumbs to injuries in Nalgonda district

The News Minute | November 10, 2014 | 8:40 am ISTA five year old boy who was allegedly beaten up by his school teachers in Nalgonda district succumbed to injuries on Saturday.Ramavath Chandu, the son of a local tribal farmer was subjected to corporal punishment when he arrived late to school on Saturday. The teacher allegedly slapped him due to which, his head accidently hit a nail in the wall.According to a report in The Hindu, Haliya Inspector G. Shivashankar Goud said the parents and kin of the boy staged a protest and demanded action against the management. They also sought compensation from the management and government. However, it is understood that the parents and the school management came to an understanding by afternoon when the body was sent for post-mortem.The boy died while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Hyderabad at around midnight. Child right activists demanded that the accused teacher should be arrested and action against the school management should be taken at the earliest.
