PM Modi’s Vizag visit: Projects worth over Rs 11k cr to be flagged off

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate three projects worth about Rs 3,500 crore, and will lay the foundation for five projects worth about Rs 7,6000 crore, during his visit to Visakhapatnam on Saturday, November 12. PM Modi will arrive in Visakhapatnam on November 11, and  will address a public gathering in Andhra University College of Engineering grounds on November 12 at 10.30 am.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for five projects, including the GAIL - Srikakulam  Angul spurlines (321 km) of the Srikakulam-Angul gas pipeline project. Built at a cost of about Rs 2,650 crore, it is expected to have a  production potential of about 3 million metric standard cubic metres of natural gas. per day. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the modernisation and upgradation of Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour. The project, taken up at a cost of about Rs 150 crore, is expected to reduce the turnaround time of jetties and also double the handling capacity of the harbour. 

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for a six-lane greenfield economic corridor from Raipur to Visakhapatnam, which is expected to reduce travel time across three states – Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. He will also lay the foundation for the redevelopment of Visakhapatnam railway station at a cost of about Rs 450 crore. The redeveloped station with “modern amenities” will cater to 75,000 passengers per day, an official release said. PM Modi will also lay the foundation for a dedicated Port Road from Convent Junction to Sheela Nagar, aimed at easing traffic congestion in Vizag. 

PM Modi will inaugurate a section of National Highway 326A, from Pathapatnam to Narsannapeta, built at a cost of over Rs 200 crore. He will also dedicate the U-field onshore deep water block project of  Oil Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), and a grassroots POL depot of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Guntakal to the nation.
