The News Minute | January 30, 2015 | 9:50 am ISTIn a development that could further worsen ties between the two states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the AP Power Generation Corporation (APGenco) on Thursday commenced the operation process of the 800-MW Krishnapatnam thermal power station in the Nellore district. AP has clearly indicated that it will not part with the power generated at Krishnapatnam at the Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) report which they submitted to the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission on January 26. This is not the first time APGenco has attempted to start commercial operations with technical snags forcing its suspension thrice in the past. As commercial generation begins, Telangana is waiting to demand its due share of the power according to the AP Reorganization Act, while AP says it will not part with a single unit for the new state.Telangana's argument is that it should get 53.89 per cent as per the sharing formula arrived at before the enactment of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. The two states are already engaged in a major tussle over the sharing of power and water from the Srisailam and Nagarjunsagar reservoirs.The tables are expected to turn once power generation at the Krishnapatnam plant starts, with Telangana expected to cry foul - while AP, which was charging allegations against Telangana till now, feeding power to its own districts.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
