Andhra House panel sends notice to YSRCP MLA Roja to challenge suspension

Written by : TNM Staff

The Privileges Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Saturday issued a notice to YSR Congress MLA Roja to appear before it on April 6 with regard to the ongoing row of her suspension.

Deccan Chronicle reported:

The Privileges Committee had recommended her suspension from the House which was accepted by the Assembly in the recent session. The House accepted the recommendation of the Privileges Committee to give one more opportunity to Ms Roja to appear before it.

This is the third notice to the MLA who did not attend the previous summons citing ill-health. She has said that she will defend her case this time.

The ruling Telugu Desam Party earlier, had prevented the entry of Roja into the Andhra Pradesh Assembly even as she obtained an interim order from the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad against her suspension from the House.

The YSRC first staged a protest sit-in on the Assembly premises and then drove to the Raj Bhavan to submit a petition to the Governor against Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao for violating the court order.
