After Cyclone Vardah made landfall near Chennai, Andhra Pradesh managed to largely stay away from the storm, but several districts witnessed heavy rainfall. 

 Chittoor, Nellore, Anantapur, Prakasam and Kadapa districts received heavy rain on Monday.

 Several trees and electricity poles in parts of these districts were uprooted and many motor vehicles overturned, including an oil tanker near Sullurpeta due to the heavy winds.

 Officials had to use pumps to clear water at the Lord Venkateswara temple. 

The coastline along Nellore district witnessed a storm rush till the evening. 

 It was reported that several crops were damaged besides huts and rooftops, in some parts of coastal AP and Rayalaseema districts.

 Nellore District Collector, Mutyala Raju Revu, said that three National Disaster Relief Force teams with a total of 116 members have been deployed. On Monday, nearly 11,490 people were shifted from 11 mandals of Nellore district to the relief camps.

 Several train and flight services were also cancelled and diverted due to the cyclone. 

Air services were suspended at Tirupati airport, and South Central Railway was on high alert. Around 16 trains were cancelled, two were partially cancelled and 16 others were diverted from Hyderabad. 

 The Deccan Chronicle reported that the highest rainfall of 9.7 cm was recorded at Vakadu, followed by 93.7 mm in Sullurpeta, 87.8 mm in Tada and 87.5 mm in Doravarisathram. The rain is likely to continue.

 As the India Meteorological Department forecast heavy to very heavy rain for a few places in the districts of Guntur and Nellore on Tuesday, all trains operating in these areas that are likely to be affected will be diverted. A 24x7 helpdesk has been set up at Vijayawada railway station to provide information on movement of trains to all the passengers. Telephone helplines have been activated at the Vijayawada, Nellore, Gudur and Guntakal railway stations.
