Telangana Minister Konda Surekha’s daughter, Susmita, criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy yet again on August 19, Wednesday at a public meeting organised for her mother’s birthday in Geesugonda, prompting a notice from the Telangana Congress disciplinary committee seeking an explanation.

Susmita’s remarks came days after CM Revanth’s recent visit to Parkal, where he announced that the sitting MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy, who is 74, will contest again from the constituency in the next election. Susmita, who was being projected by her family as the next Congress candidate from Parkal, reacted strongly to these remarks and said that she would contest from Parkal independently if not given a ticket in the next Assembly election.

Susmita questioned Revanth’s authority to decide who gets a party ticket. She also claimed that Revanth was made the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief in 2021 with support from her parents, Konda Surekha and Konda Murali. She said that Murali was promised an MLC seat, but after becoming CM, Revanth had allegedly shown preference for leaders who recently joined the party from TDP or BRS, while sidelining long-time Congress loyalists.

She also brought up the recent allegations of corruption against Revanth over subsidised land allotted to a company run by his brother, Kondal Reddy.

Susmita had previously made serious allegations against CM Revanth in a dramatic episode in 2025. She alleged that the Reddy leaders in the Telangana Congress were targeting her family because they were from a Backward Class community, when police arrived at their home to arrest Surekha’s former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) N Sumanth over allegations of misconduct and corruption.

The incident happened amid a rift within the party between Surekha and other Congress leaders, including Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy. Surekha had later apologised to Revanth for her daughter’s remarks.

Following the recent Geesugonda incident, TPCC disciplinary committee chairperson Mallu Ravi reportedly sought an explanation from Surekha, giving three days to submit her explanation. Susmita on the other hand said that her comments were made independently and had no connection to her family.
