Birthdays of famous personalities are usually celebrated in vividly descriptive ways.

In Puducherry, a number of flex posters and banners have cropped up in celebration of its Chief Minister N Rangasamy’s birthday which falls on August 4.

However, what’s interesting is the portrayal of the Chief Minister in these posters. Practiced for a couple of years in the past, Rangasamy who has earlier been presented as everything from Jesus Christ to Hanuman, is now seen projected as “Baahubali”, the protagonist of the recent hit movie with the same name.

People in the city can see pictures of Rangasamy as represented in the scene in which Baahubali lifts a Siva Linga.

Celebrations like these have been conducted in the past. Presented as gods in the past, he was also shown in different avatars, including one in which he was shown standing next to US President Barack Obama.

According to reports, criticism has been raised against the Puducherry government for not effectively following an order banning the display of banners and cut outs in the city. Though the ban  had brought down the number of posters displayed across the city considerably, it has not effectively stopped it.
Earlier, party cadres belonging to the All India NR Congress used to put up over 2000 posters in celebration of the CM's birthday each year.
