Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and actor Vijay on Sunday, April 28, said that his party would form a corruption-free and transparent government if voted to power in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Addressing a massive gathering of around 7,300 booth agents at the conclusion of TVK’s two-day regional conference in Coimbatore, Vijay urged cadres to make the voting process a celebration, "like a temple festival."
“It will be a clean government,” he said, speaking to party workers from 25 constituencies across Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Nilgiris districts. An equal number of booth agents from Salem, Namakkal, and Erode had participated in the first day of the conference. “There will be no compromises. We will go all-out to do good for the people,” Vijay added.
According to a Times of India report, Vijay called on booth agents to prepare for the 2026 elections with “confidence and commitment.” “TVK is not a party started for political gains. I will not compromise when it comes to people’s welfare and will go to any extent to ensure it,” he said.
Underscoring the importance of booth agents, Vijay described them as the “backbone of the party” and urged them to build personal connections with voters. “Booth committee members should meet voters in person. TVK will form a government that is honest and transparent. This is the message that should be carried to the people,” he said.
Drawing inspiration from Dravidian icon and former Chief Minister CN Annadurai, Vijay quoted him: “Go to the people, live among them, learn from them, serve them, plan with them, start with what they know and build with what they have.” He said that if cadres embraced this philosophy, TVK could form a government as “clean as Siruvani water” — a reference to the river and reservoir near Coimbatore known for its sweet drinking water.
Vijay also likened voting to visiting a temple, and urged families to go to polling booths together just as they would visit a temple.
