Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, announced a major expansion on Monday, June 9, with the appointment of Dr KG Arunraj, a retired Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, as the party’s ‘propaganda and policy general secretary.’
Announcing the appointment, Vijay said Dr Arunraj’s administrative experience and educational background would strengthen the party’s policy-making efforts. "I am confident that under his guidance, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will expand its policies to a broader audience," he said.
A doctor-turned-civil servant, Arunraj has served in various roles within the Income Tax department in Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Maharashtra. In his new role, he will oversee the party's policy direction and communication strategy, working closely with general secretary N Anand. “He will execute policy-related responsibilities in accordance with my guidance,” Vijay noted.
TVK also inducted several high-profile individuals into its fold, including senior advocate and former High Court judge R Rajasekar, former Chief Judicial Magistrate and ex-DMK MLA S David Selvan, and former AIADMK MLA R Rajalakshmi.
Welcoming the new members, Vijay said their expertise would “greatly benefit the party’s future development.” He urged party cadres and functionaries to extend full cooperation to the new team as TVK prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections. “Their joining gives us great strength. I look forward to working with them to build a better Tamil Nadu through Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam,” Vijay said.
