

1. Six days after the death of prohibition campaigner, Sasi Perumal, his family has agreed to receive his body. The decision was made after a number of leaders from different political parties requested the family to give in and accept the body. The final rites are to take place on Friday. However, protests continued across the state against prohibition. Vijayakanth, his wife and party cadres were detained and later released after they formed a human chain without permission in Chennai.
