A final year B. Tech Civil Engineering student in Trichy died by suicide on Sunday, May 18, over alleged fear on arrear exams.
The 21-year-old, identified as Kuldeep Meena, native of Rajasthan, was studying in National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy district.
According to the police, Kuldeep had stayed in the hostel, saying he had dues over fees. But when we asked about their parents, they said that they have sent the amount to pay the fees. Kuldeep had called his father around May 14 to arrive home on the next day, but he had not, the police told TNM. The police added that he had arrears in a few subjects and some other issues. His mobile has been seized and is yet to send to the lab for investigation purposes.
The Thuvakudi police were informed about the death following which Kuldeep Meena’s mortal remains were sent to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital for a postmortem.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
