Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting a meeting to present a memorandum opposing the Union government’s proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies. A copy of the letter, dated March 27, was shared on Stalin’s social media handles on April 1.
In the letter, Stalin said that he, along with a select group of Members of Parliament (MPs), would attend the meeting to formally submit the memorandum. “On March 22, Chennai hosted the inaugural Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting on 'Fair Delimitation’. The voices emerging from our deliberations transcend political boundaries, embodying the concerns of citizens from diverse regions who seek fair representation in our parliamentary democracy. As this issue holds significant importance to our states and citizens, I kindly request a meeting with you to formally submit the Memorandum on Delimitation on behalf of the Committee,” the Chief Minister wrote.
Sharing the letter on his social media accounts, Stalin tagged Modi’s official handle and stated that he had requested a meeting with the Prime Minister, along with MPs from various parties, to present their memorandum on concerns regarding the proposed delimitation. He mentioned that this request followed resolutions from the JAC meeting for ‘Fair Delimitation’ held in Chennai and stressed the urgency of the matter in conveying their united stance on the issue.
