Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Teynampet of Chennai on the morning of Monday, July 21, after experiencing mild giddiness. A medical bulletin issued by the hospital confirmed that the 72-year-old leader was undergoing diagnostic tests and evaluations.

Dr Anil BG, Director of Medical Services at Apollo Hospitals, stated, “Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru MK Stalin had mild giddiness during his routine morning walking. He has been admitted to Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, Chennai, for evaluation of his symptoms. Necessary diagnostic tests are being carried out.”

Sources in the DMK said the Chief Minister’s condition was stable, but his scheduled programmes in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts would proceed after medical advice. More details and further updates from the Chief Minister’s Office or Apollo Hospital were awaited. The medical team continued its evaluation.

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Chief Minister’s wife Durga Stalin, daughter Senthamarai, Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan, and Health Minister Ma Subramanian visited the hospital to check on the CM. Speaking to the media after his visit, Duraimurugan reassured the public, stating, “The Chief Minister is fine. He could return home any time, even today.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to CM Stalin over the phone and inquired about his health following his admission to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai.

A release from the state government confirmed that several national and regional leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, and leaders from alliance parties, also contacted Stalin to convey their wishes for a speedy recovery.

Before being hospitalised, Stalin had a busy schedule. He welcomed former AIADMK leader and ex-minister Anwar Raja, who officially joined the DMK at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam. He also held discussions with a delegation of CPI(M) leaders led by state secretary P Shanmugam.

He was scheduled to embark on a two-day tour of Tirupur starting Tuesday. However, Information and Publicity Minister MP Saminathan announced that all scheduled events in Tirupur have been indefinitely postponed in light of the Chief Minister’s health condition.

As per his itinerary, he was expected to arrive in Coimbatore by flight on July 22, and then travel by road to various locations in Tiruppur district, including Palladam and Udumalpet, where he was slated to attend multiple official events. During the two-day visit, CM Stalin was also scheduled to inaugurate a number of government projects aimed at boosting development in the Tiruppur region.
