The News Minute | August 31, 2014 | 11:27 am ISTFive pilgrims were killed on Sunday when a bus caught fire in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram district, states a report by India Today. The pilgrims who died in the mishap were from West Bengal and were on their way to Kanyakumari. The report states that a gas cylinder on the bus exploded, killing at least five and injuring six others among the 80 passengers in the bus. The bus driver had noticed a spark on the bus from the rear-view mirror after which he stopped the bus and asked all passengers to evacuate, when suddenly one of the two LPG cylinders on the bus exploded. 11 people got stuck after fire spread in the bus due to strong winds. The injured, two of whom are said to be serious, have been admitted to a government hospital, adds the report.
