A 30-year-old man was arrested, on Saturday, April 5, for allegedly molesting a 21-year-old woman onboard a moving Metro train in Chennai. The accused, identified as T Karthik of Tiruvottiyur, worked as a car mechanic at a private firm in Anna Salai.

According to the police, the woman, who is employed at a private company in Thousand Lights, regularly commuted on the metro. On March 15, while she was travelling in a crowded compartment, Karthik allegedly molested her and fled the scene. The woman did not know the accused but had noticed him stalking her in the days leading up to the assault.

When the train arrived at the Thousand Lights metro station, the group handed over Karthik to the Metro Rail security personnel, who then informed the Thousand Lights All Women Police Station. After an inquiry, he was arrested the same day. He was later produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
