
The trailer for the much-awaited PS-2 will be released at 6 pm on Wednesday, March 29 at the Jawaharlal Nehru indoor stadium in Chennai. The music for the movie will also be released during the same event. The sequel to Mani Ratnam’s PS-1, which is based on Kalki’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, is to be released on April 28 across the world.
The trailer release event is expected to be attended by the cast and crew of the film, including Kamal Haasan and the music composer for the film AR Rahman. AR Rahman is also expected to perform the songs that will be a part of the movie.
PS-1, the first part of the series, follows the story of the Chola kingdom and its royal family after their victory over the Pandya kingdom. The king of the Chola kingdom Sundara Chozhar is played by Prakash Raj, while the kingdom’s eldest prince Aaditha Karigalar is played by Vikram. Vandiyathevan, a soldier delivering an important message, is played by Karthi while Parthiban and Sarathkumar play the military commanders Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar and Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, respectively. Jayam Ravi plays the younger Chola prince Arulmozhi Varman.
Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai plays Nandini, Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar’s wife and Trisha plays Kundavai, the Chola princess. Sobhita Dhulipala plays Vaanathi, a princess from a smaller kingdom and Kundavai’s close friend.
PS-1 collected almost Rs 265 crore in India and around Rs 170 crore across the world. The movie ran in theatres for close to a month and was later available on Amazon Prime.
