The News Minute | March 1, 2015 | 09.10 am ISTIt could have been an early birthday gift ahead DMK treasurer MK Stalin’s birthday, however, DMK president M Karunanidhi said that he was not looking to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the sixth time. Saying that though those who had spoken before him at a function held on the eve of Stalin’s birthday had expressed that he must take up the post, he said he had no such desire, reported PTI. “Those who spoke before me said that I should become (Chief) Minister for a sixth time. That is not my desire, that (feeling) is not something that is dominating me. My desire is to protect DMK. Till the last supporter is there, it cannot be given away to the enemy,” he said. The 91 year-old also said that protecting the party should be the primary duty of all concerned. The statements come after a severe defeat in the Srirangam by polls swept by the AIADMK.Even the voice for Stalin to be given a bigger role has taken up pace as parties gear up for Assembly elections next year, said the report.
