The News Minute| October 4, 2014| 9.20 am ISTIt’s fashionable for stars to make a late entry, whether at movie shoots, events or press conferences. However, a press conference in Chennai where Shah Rukh Khan and Happy New Year crew did not address the press for more than three hours after his scheduled appearance ended on a different note when media gathered there staged a walkout, said The Hindu.Termed as miscommunication between two PR managers, the star arrived at nearly 8 p.m. instead at a press conference at the ITC Grand Chola in Chennai scheduled to begin at 4.30 p.m. Despite attempts to placate journalists by Khan, angry journalists voiced their displeasure and left the premises, said the report.A journalist described the incident like this, “SRK's new movie Happy New Year promotional press meet was scheduled at 4.30 pm followed by a fashion show at 6.45 pm. According to the invite media was asked to assemble at 4 pm as it was a high security event. Only selected media channels were informed about the delay. However, all media channels registered themselves at the venue and got the passes & tag. Even after 4.30 pm there was no sign of SRK or the HNY crew addressing the press. We kept waiting and in the adjacent hall SRK, Deepika, Abhishek Bachchan & others were doing special interviews with selective media outlets both from print & television. Others kept waiting. National media channels were promised that SRK & his team will do a one-on-one interview. Even after 7 pm there was no sign of anything happening. Finally, when media got restless, SRK's media managers said no individual interviews have been fixed & tried to pacify the media. Agitated journalists demanded answers and they were humiliated by SRK's media managers who questioned "who asked you to come at 4 pm?” SRK promised that he will speak to us and he apologized and was ready to go ahead with the show. However, the entire Chennai media decided to reject his apology and decided to boycott.
