Global pop icon Ed Sheeran is all set to captivate Chennai audiences for the first time on February 5 at the YMCA Grounds in Nandanam. The highly anticipated concert is part of Sheeran’s ongoing +–=÷× Tour (pronounced the Mathematics Tour), which began in 2022 and is being organized by AEG Presents Asia and BookMyShow Live.

Fans can look forward to a truly unique musical experience, as Sheeran is renowned for his innovative live performances using a loop station. According to a press release, “Using his loop station, he records short segments—a rhythmic tap on his guitar, a vocal harmony, or a melodic riff—and builds them into a full, dynamic composition on the spot. Each performance is completely unique, as the loops are erased once the show ends. This means no two concerts are ever the same, making every city’s experience truly one-of-a-kind and giving fans an unforgettable, immersive musical journey crafted entirely in the moment.”

In addition to his signature ballads, Sheeran will also revisit his rap roots with a high-energy performance of ‘You Need Me, I Don’t Need You’. A fan-favorite from his early career.

Acclaimed singer Jonita Gandhi will open the Chennai concert, bringing her signature blend of Bollywood hits, indie music, and international collaborations.

Sheeran has already mesmerized audiences in Pune on January 30 and Hyderabad on February 2 at Ramoji Film City. Following Chennai, the tour will continue to Bengaluru, Shillong, and Gurugram.

The +–=÷× Tour is an ongoing global concert series showcasing music from Sheeran’s entire discography, including albums = (2021) and – (2023), as well as popular tracks from + (2011), × (2014), ÷ (2017), and No. 6 Collaborations Project (2019). The tour, comprising 165 shows, began on April 23, 2022, in Dublin, Ireland, and is scheduled to conclude on September 7, 2025, in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Additionally, The Mathematics Tour Collection, a compilation album featuring studio versions of Sheeran’s biggest hits from 2011 to 2023, will be released on September 27, 2024

This is not Sheeran’s first time performing in India. He previously performed in Mumbai in 2015 and returned for another show in 2017. The India leg of his tour was officially announced in November 2024, following a sold-out Mumbai concert in March 2024, where Sheeran promised fans he would return.

Tickets for the India tour are available on BookMyShow and Sheeran’s official website
