A senior police officer working in Chennai has been suspended after allegations of sexual harassment by women police constables. Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) North D Magesh Kumar IPS, who is a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) rank officer, was suspended after official complaints were filed with Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal.

According to sources TNM spoke to, initially two women police constables filed complaints, following which Magesh Kumar was kept without posting. Meanwhile, the complaints were forwarded to the Internal Committee (IC). After a preliminary inquiry, the committee had suggested further action to DGP Shankar, based on which Magesh Kumar was suspended.

Further details on the case are awaited.

Prior to this posting, Magesh served as the JCP (Traffic) South. He was transferred to Traffic-North in December 2024.
