Despite the Supreme Court's controversial stay on Jallikattu a couple of days before Pongal, a town in Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu conducted the sport on Sunday.
A couple of people travelling to Bengaluru said that they spotted a huge crowd near Saravana Bhavan in Krishnagiri, on NH7 highway on their way back from Tamil Nadu.
"We were two of us driving down. Around 1:30 pm, when we reached Krishnagiri, we saw a huge crowd surrounding the ground opposite Saravana Bhavan. We saw that there were about 30 boys, all of them between 13 to 16 years of age chasing a bull that was tied to a long rope," the source said.
They also reportedly spotted a few policemen watching the show and said that the bull was fairly young.
A person from the audience told the source that the main event with a larger bull and adults, would take place in the evening.
"He told us this was just a primer for the children. The actual event with a fully grown bull and older men is scheduled for 4:30 pm," said the source.
“The bull was very subdued and had to be roused to action.”
However, Quadir Bhasha, sub-inspector at Kurubarapalli police station, which is close to the area where the event happened, denied that the event took place.
"We have been keeping a close watch and had informed the people about the court's order. There is no chance that this could have happened," he said.
