Two days after CISF personnel took charge at the Madras High Court, advocates told the first bench of the Madras High Court that lawyers should not be frisked while entering the court and that CISF personnel should not carry around rifles on campus. The High Court has refused to make any changes to the system.

Refusing to dilute the security system, the Madras High Court said in their judgement. “Let it be clear. I will not interfere with security matters.”

The bench also told the lawyers to discuss the issue with the security committee to make any kind of changes to the security system, according to a Times Of India report.

Madras High Court Advocates Association president RC Paul Kanagaraj said that many of the advocates were uncomfortable with the repeated body frisking at the entrance of the High Court. He asked the court to go for less body search and more entry points, according to TOI report.

When advocates asked the court not to allow CISF personnel to carry rifles in the campus, Chief Justice Kaul replied by saying, “Do you expect them to carry danda or lathis?”

He also said that all the issues the lawyers are facing due to new security system can be compiled and submitted to the security committee.

The bench postponed the hearing of the case to January 5, 2016 for further hearing.
