26-yr-old Chennai man killed after TN minister’s car hits his two-wheeler

A 26-year-old man was killed after the two-wheeler he was riding collided with a car belonging to Tamil Nadu Minister K Jegadeshwari in Kattankulathur near Chennai on Monday, September 7. The car driver has been arrested.

The deceased has been identified as Iraiyanbu. He was riding a Honda Dio when it collided with a Maruti Ertiga at Kattankulathur. Iraiyanbu sustained severe injuries and died at the spot. His body was sent to Chengalpattu District Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

According to reports, Jegadeshwari, the minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment was travelling towards Chennai on Monday morning to attend the ongoing Legislative Assembly session.

She was travelling in an official government vehicle, followed by an escort vehicle and her personal car, registered under the minister’s name, which caused the accident.

The Ertiga which had her relatives as passengers was following the convoy. The incident happened around 12.30 am.

Following it, the Maraimalai Nagar Traffic Investigation Wing police seized the vehicle and arrested its driver, 28-year-old Chinna Agni, a resident of Madurai.

Police have registered a case against Agni under Sections 281 (rash and negligent driving) and 106 (1) (causing death by negligence).

Further investigation is underway.
