On Saturday morning, a long-time request by ‘Captain’ Vijaykanth to Subramanian Swamy was heeded to by the latter.

Apparently, for a while now, Vijaykanth had been asking to meet Swamy for strategizing on a defamation case which has been filed against them by the Jayalalithaa government. Both the leaders are facing defamation cases. Subramanian Swamy, somewhat of an expert in fighting defamation cases since he has been subject to quite a few, finally agreed to meet him today, and insisted that he himself would come meet him.

The two leaders met at Vijaykanth’s party office in Chennai.

The meeting went on for about half an hour. Officially both the leaders, and sources close to them, insist that only the defamation case and legal strategy were discussed.

But Swamy did drop a strong hint when he left. Speaking to the media, he reportedly said that the people of Tamil Nadu will reject the ADMK and DMK, and choose a third front.

With DMK’s posturing on further alliances having begun, other parties could also start indulging in the same. However, it is not know yet if the BJP and DMDK, who worked together in the ’14 general elections will also join hands for the upcoming 2016 elections. The DMK has also hinted that it is comfortable working with the DMDK.
