After Jayalalithaa's father-son story targeted the DMK family, another story from MDMK Leader Vaiko has hit out at the DMK-Congress alliance at a PWF rally on Tuesday.

In the story, originally written by poet Kalidasa, he likens DMK to a snake and Congress to a frog.

“When the sun was scorching, a snake was looking for shade, trying to save itself fearing that it will wither and die. It had shed its skin and the skin had fallen off. Now a frog comes, looking for shade worried that it will also die. It finds the shadow of the snake and takes shelter under it. The snake does not know the frog, which it can eat, is using it for shade. The frog does not know it is standing under the snake providing the shade, which can swallow it anytime.”

To thundering applause, he announced that the snake in the story was DMK and the frog was Congress when it came to Tamil Nadu politics, and the reverse when it came to national politics. Mortal enemies by nature, but salvaging a relationship for an alliance.

He goes on to describe the ideal alliance with another story, borrowed from a poet in Sangam Literature.

“Two deer, thirsty and looking for water find a lake. Both make symbolic gestures of drinking water – but in reality, neither are drinking because one feels the other will not get enough water to drink. This is the sacrifice that should exist between alliance partners,” he says

In one last salvo fired at the DMK, he declared that Karunanidhi must choose writing, "because he is a great poet", over chief ministerial aspirations.
