Trisha to star opposite Puneeth Rajkumar in Pawan Kumar’s ‘Dvitva’

Actor Trisha has been roped in to star opposite Sandalwood star Puneeth Rajkumar in the upcoming Kannada movie Dvitva. Sharing the news with fans, Hombale Films, the production banner bankrolling the movie, wrote: “The leading lady of #Dvitva is here. We welcome the talented @trishtrashers on board.” The team shared a monochrome photo of Trisha as a collage, similar to the film’s earlier poster, suggesting that the theme is likely to be connected to a puzzle.

The film is helmed by director Pawan Kumar, who is best known for films such as Lucia and U Turn. Touted to be a psychological drama thriller, Dvitva is bankrolled by producer Vijay Kiragandur, under the banner of Hombale Films. On July 1, the title and first look poster featuring Puneeth Rajkumar was unveiled by the makers. The poster presented a graphic image of Puneeth’s face broken into different pieces, setting the tone for a gripping thriller. Dvitva is likely to go on the floors this September.

Speaking about the movie during the launch of its first look and title, Puneeth said in a press statement that he is excited to work with Pawan and also see himself in this new avatar. “I’m delighted about this new journey that is about to begin with Hombale Films, which is my second home. Working with Vijay Kiragandur and team is like being surrounded by my own family. I have always been intrigued with Pawan and his work. I’m excited and can’t wait to see myself in this new avatar,” the actor stated.

Meanwhile, director Pawan said in the press statement that the story will focus on one character.  “I first wrote the story and then started looking for a title that describes it best. I stumbled upon DVITVA. I instantly liked what it means and how it sounds.” Further details about the project are awaited.

Before Dvitva, Pawan helmed the Telugu web series Kudi Yedamaithe, starring Amala Paul and Rahul in the lead, which recently released on Telugu OTT platform Aha. Puneeth Rajkumar is currently working on James, in which he will be sharing the screen with Priya Anand. Trisha has a number of projects in the pipeline, including Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan.
