A group of transgender people protested on Tuesday in Chennai against Congress spokesperson Khushbu Sundar who allegedly said that members of the transgender community asked for big roles in politics without really working for it.

The transgender people asked for an “unconditional apology” from Khushbu. Inba, a transgender person told The Hindu that it was absurd to say that transgender people do not have the experience of working in grass root levels.

She said that transgender people are discriminated from the day they are born. They cannot be told that they do not have experience working on the ground. She claimed that many of them were activists and were working for the problems in the society.

She said that they do not need to join a party to know the problems and their lives are enough to be considered as a party, according to The Hindu.
