Popular weather blogger from Tamil Nadu, Pradeep John, has earned quite a reputation for himself within a short span of time. A household name now, Pradeep’s fame grew organically, supported by the reliability of his predictions and his unique and fun way of presenting weather facts to his followers.
At the CII Connect 2019, the annual information, communication and technology conference and exhibition of Tamil Nadu, that was held in the city on November 7 and 8, Pradeep was honoured with the Inspirational Role Model Award. Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar, President and CEO of HCL Technologies C Vijayakumar, handed over the award to him during the ceremony.
On his social media page, Pradeep shared the news along with photos from the event.

This award comes as a recognition for the private weather blogger who has received quite a few discouraging comments from the IMD.
Pradeep who developed an interest in tracking and predicting weather from a very young age, started Tamilnadu Weatherman Facebook page in 2014 and has over 7 lakh followers today.
Pradeep has his own unique style in connecting with his followers and the about section on his Facebook page captures him the best. “If you are new to this page, please know that i am not a meteorologist nor an expert in Weather. Just like you, I have to go to a office daily and travel consumes 3 hours of my time. Sometimes, due to my work I would not be able to post. You have to also remember, the work i am doing here needs constant monitoring and to be honest, I spend more time here than even spending time with my family. At some point it will be raining somewhere in Tamil Nadu and it is impossible to update on daily basis or each and every place in Tamil Nadu as and when it rains. I am trying post to the best of my interpretation skills seeing various sources of weather.” (sic)
CII Connect Awards are given under the categories Entrepreneur of the Year, Exemplary Application of Technology – in both the public and private sectors, Global Influencer of the Year, Social Entrepreneur Award and Inspirational Role Model Award.
