The Tamil Nadu government carried out a major reshuffle of the top brass of bureaucracy on Wednesday. A number of IAS officers have been reassigned under the new government in the first such major exercise after the Assembly elections in May.

Dr P Rama Mohan Rao, who had been the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, has been posted as the new Chief Secretary to Government. He will also be holding the post of Vigilance Commissioner and Commissioner for Administrative Reforms.

K Gnanadesikan, earlier Chief Secretary to Government, has been appointed as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) department.

Pradeep Yadav, who was the Principal Secretary in Sports Development Authority of Tamil, now takes over as the Principal Secretary to Government in the Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection Department.

Gangandeep Singh Bedi, the Secretary to Government in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department has been transferred and posted as the Agricultural Production Commissioner and Secretary to Government in the Agriculture Department. He will also have additional charge of the post of Secretary to Government in the Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Department.

Hans Raj Verma, currently the Principal Secretary to Government in the Environment and Forests Department, has been transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to Government in Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.

Atulya Misra, the Principal Secretary/Commissioner of Revenue Administration has been transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to Government in the Environment and Forests Department. He will also have the additional charge of Commissioner of Revenue Department Administration.

Besides these transfers, there have also been some new appointments. Santha Sheela Nair has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Chief Minister’s Office. KN Venkataramanan, Shiv Das Meena, S Vijayakumar and A Ramalingam will be working as Secretary-I, Secretary-II, Secretary-III and Secretary-IV to the Chief Minister.
