Two youths were killed as their car rammed into a container truck in Maduravoyal near Chennai. According to reports, the accident happened in the wee hours of Tuesday. 

The deceased identified as Selvaganesh (21) and Saran Kishore (21), who were natives of Ramanathapuram district and lived in Erikkarai locality in Chennai with two other friends, worked in a private company.

On Tuesday, around 4 am, all four men went out in Selvaganesh’s car to have tea near the tollgate in Maduravoyal. As the car was approaching Surapattu toll gate on Maduravoyal bypass, an empty container truck swerved to take a U-turn about 100 metres before the toll gate. Selvaganesh, who was driving the car behind the truck, lost control and rammed into the rear of the truck.

While Selvaganesh died on the spot, the other three men inside the car – Saran Kishore, Ajith (19) and Praveen Kumar (21) – were rescued and rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Saran Kishore did not respond to treatment and died in Kilpauk hospital. The other two men – Ajith and Praveen Kumar – remain in critical condition.

The Koyambedu traffic police have registered an FIR against the truck driver and are on the lookout for him as he is absconding.

In another accident, a milk vendor died after his vehicle fell into a stormwater drain in Guduvancherry near Chennai.

According to reports, 32-year-old Karthik, a milk vendor was riding his motorbike on the Guduvancherry-Nellikkuppam road on Tuesday morning when the accident happened. His vehicle allegedly lost control and fell into a stormwater drain on the road along with him. Karthik died on the spot.
