The Cantonment Police in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday registered a case against Mollywood director Major Ravi for his alleged abusive remarks against TV journalist Sindhu Sooryakumar.

Based on Sindhu’s complaint to Thiruvananthapuram Range IG Manoj Abraham, the case was registered under Sections 500, 501, 509, 354 A of the Indian Penal Code and Section 120(o) of the Kerala Police Act.

The said director recently courted controversy following his criticism of Sindhu who works with the Asianet news channel.  Speaking at a public event, Ravi had said he would have spat on the journalist's face for her supposed verbal degradation of a Hindu goddess.

As per reports so far about nine persons have been taken into custody for verbally abusing the visual journo over phone.
