Fearing arrest by the police, actor Simbu moved to the Madras High Court on Monday asking anticipatory bail for two criminal cases registered by the Coimbatore police and Cyber Crime police in Chennai against the controversial ‘Beep’ song.

The actor claimed that the Chennai cyber crime police had carried out search operation at his house to arrest him.

Meanwhile, a second summon was also issued on Monday to actor Simbu and music director Anirudh to appear at the Coimbatore station by January 2, 2016. The police had earlier asked the two to be present at the station on December 19 but they failed to appear due to their schedules. The police warned that if they repeat the same, the police will move to the court and ask for an arrest warrant against the duo.

The Coimbatore police mainly want the two to be present at the police station while the Cyber Crime Cell confirmed the voice of the singer in the ‘Beep’ song and do analysis of the song, according to TNIE.

A police complaint was registered against actor Simbu and music director Anirudh on December 12 after All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) filed a complaint against the ‘Beep’ song. Last week, Simbu had moved to the court for staying the proceeding but it was denied. The Cyber Crime police in Egmore also registered a case after Tamil Nadu Milk Vendors Welfare Association president SA Ponnusamy complained and a case was filed for creating and uploading obscene content online.

Simbu told TOI, “Those tunes, song and music tracks are in a scratch/rough format without the completed lyrics, and in an incomplete version that is not intended for public listening."
