The health condition of Natarajan Maruthapa, husband of sidelined AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala has worther worsened, according to a Chennai hospital.

Natarajan has been recieving treatment at the Gleneagles Global Hospital for the last nine months. In a health bulletin released on Monday night, the hospital said that his health condition is said to be critical with worsening liver failure and kidney failure.

According to a press release issued by Gleneagles Global Hospital in Chennai, “Currently, he is admitted at the Liver Intensive Care Unit, Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai, under the team headed by Professor Mohamed Rela, with worsening liver failure, kidney failure and lung congestion and his condition remains critical.”

It also states that his liver function has deteriorated further and he is encephalopathic. “His liver function has deteriorated further and he is encephalopathic. He is still awaiting Liver and Kidney transplantation,” as said in the statement.

The press statement came on a day when Sasikala had applied for a 15-days parole to see her ailing husband. Speaking to media, Dhinakaran said on Monday, “She has applied for parole. The application will be considered tomorrow and we are hoping she gets it.”

Though the two had been estranged for years, Natarajan had hinted in many recent interviews that the couple would get back after Sasikala's term of imprisonment.

The hospital however mentioned that Natrajan is receiving dialysis, medication to support blood pressure and other care and he is currently not on ventilator support.

Natrajan has been getting treatment for chronic liver disease for the last nine months and he has been advised by the doctors to undergo liver and kidney transplantation. He has been listed with the Tamil Nadu Organ Sharing (TNOS) for donor liver transplantation.

He was admitted to Gleneagles Global Hospital in Perumbakkam on September 10 after suffering multiple organ failure. He was earlier admitted to Apollo Hospital after he complained of breathing problems.
