In a second such incident since June this year, a major road in Chennai has caved in.
This time it is in Madhya Kailash junction near Adyar. The crater had appeared on Monday prompting the authorities to barricade the area, so as to prevent cars or humans from going in.
However, this crater did not hamper the flow of traffic as much as it was feared.
Nyanam, a traffic police said, "We barricaded this area around 4:30PM and only one side traffic was affected."
About 11 police officials were present around the crater to keep the traffic moving. The crater is about 5 feet deep. A Chennai metro water chief engineer said that the reason for the crater cannot be told now. "We will be researching today night and then decide what to do about it."
