After recent allegations by state Mahila Congress chief, MLA S Vijayadharani of verbally abusing her using “filthy language”, Tamil Nadu Congress chief EVKS Elangovan has dismissed efforts by state Mahila Congress chief, MLA S Vijayadharani to apprise the high command about recent events in the state. Vijayadharani had filed a police complaint against Elangovan for allegedly abusing her in filthy language.
Talking to The News Minute, EVKS Elangovan said, “She suddenly came to the office and started shouting. I told her whatever you want to say, please say it a quite way. Don’t raise your voice but she kept on shouting. If you behave like this I want you to leave my room. She replied, I won’t leave the room and she sat there. So, I left the room.”
Elangovan however dismissed Vijayadharani's efforts to meet top leaders saying, "Anyone in the Congress can meet Sonia Gandhi, no big deal about it."
Sources close to S Vijayadharini said, “Use of defamatory language and abusive words have been going on for a long time against women in the TNCC party. Elangovan had also told Vijayadharini that he will throw her out of the party. The police complaint that was lodged against Elangovan was by the women members in the party who have been victims to the verbal abuse earlier and not Vijayadharini. Elangovan also tried to put false police complaint against Vijayadharini.”
According to media reports, S Vijayadharini had confronted Elangovan as she felt was being sidelined in the party and priority was being given to Congress spokesperson Khushbu and all India general secretary of Mahila Congress Nagma.
Sources said that the problems between Elangovan and Vijayadharini began when some party members pulled down a banner of S Vijayadharini. She asked for immediate action from Elangovan but he refused to do anything.
He said, “I was told that her banner was put up in an important place sidelining other party member banners. I do not even know who pulled down the banner. But I told her that whatever the problem is I will take necessary action if she talks softly.”
Vijayadharini told The News Minute, “I’m not insecure of the actresses Nagma and Khushbu, I have rich experience. I also feel that they both will be very useful for our party. I even invited them for an event and they participated in it.”
Vijayadharini said, “I’m following the party discipline and have sent a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi about the issue. The party members are investigating about the problem and I’m sure we will get justice.”
