
It’s a sight that Chennai has become all too familiar with, every time the sky opens. The nightmare of flooded roads and traffic jams greeted Chennaiites after a spell of heavy rain on Wednesday.
Several parts of Chennai received heavy rain on Wednesday including Tidel park, Shollinganallur, KK Nagar, Tambaram, OMR road, Royapettah.

Stretches like Taramani to Madhya Kailash, Kodambakkam, Loyala College to Nelson Manickam Road, Tambaram and OMR witnessed bumper-to-bumper traffic as inundated roads hampered vehicular movement.
A short spell of heavy rain saw the road from Tidel park to Thiruvanmiyur fully flooded.

The Meteorological Department also predicted heavy rains in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Weather blogger, Tamil Nadu Weatherman had posted on Wednesday, “Another Semma day for thunderstorms in many districts for Tamil Nadu, This time more or less confirmed rains in Chennai even in the core part of the city. Mettur inflow is at year high of over 10000 cusecs as of today morning.”

He also said, “Too perfect day for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram districts. Perfect heat with convergence of winds associated with Sea breeze is going to be the trigger for rains. Overhead formation of clouds and rains are possibility. Chennai should not miss rains today.”
