Pa Ranjith’s Natchathiram Nagargiradhu to release this month
The release date of Pa Ranjith’s upcoming film Natchathiram Nagargiradhu was announced on Thursday, August 4. Sharing the announcement with fans, Pa Ranjith tweeted, “#NatchathiramNagargiradhu in theatres near you from August 31st!@officialneelam @vigsun @Manojjahson @YaazhiFilms_ @thinkmusicindia.” Billed as a romantic drama, the cast includes actors Dushara Vijayan, Kalidas Jayaram, Kalaiarasan, Hari Krishnan, Subatra Robert and Shabeer Kallarakkal in pivotal roles.
The first look poster, which was unveiled in July, has garnered a positive response from fans and piqued their curiosity. Sharing the first look poster, director Ranjith tweeted, “Love is Political! #NatchathiramNagargiradhu, My next directorial, coming soon to cinemas near you. @officialneelam @YaazhiFilms_.”
After the 2012 film Attakathi, Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is Pa Ranjith’s next romantic drama. The technical crew includes music composer Tenma, cinematographer A Kishor Kumar, and editor Selva RK. The film is bankrolled by Vignesh Sundaresan, Manoj Leonel Jahson, and Ranjith under the banners of Neelam Productions and Yaazhi Films banners. The shoot was reportedly wrapped up in December last year.

Ranjith’s last directorial venture was the period sports drama Sarpatta Parambarai, which premiered in over-the-top (OTT) platform Amazon Prime Video last year. The film starred actor Arya in the lead. The film also includes Mariamma played by Dushara, Kevin aka Daddy played by John Vijay, Contractor Koni Chandran played by Kali Venkat, among a host of others. The movie marked the first collaboration between Arya and Pa Ranjith.
The director has other films in the pipeline which are currently at different stages of production. He has directed a segment in the Tamil anthology Victim: Who’s Next? which is releasing on OTT platform Sony LIV, and is currently working on a yet to be titled film with actor Vikram. Ranjith is also working on a movie based on the life of Birsa Munda, and the action film Vettuvam.
