AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakarn left for Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru on Monday morning to meet general secretary Sasikala and discuss the future course of action for the party.

Speaking to a Tamil channel, Thanthi TV, on Monday, TTV Dhinakaran said, “I, the deputy general secretary of the party, am going to meet the general secretary to understand how I should take the party ahead. From April 19 or 20, a few members of the party due to some of their fears said TTV Dhinakaran and his family should remain out of the party. Because of which, I stayed away from the party for the last 45 days but there has not been any progress. I spoke to many people and I have come to know that Panneerselvam might not even join the party. I, as the deputy general secretary, feel that the party needs to grow and it needs to be strengthened.”

When asked about contesting the RK Nagar elections, he said that when the election comes, he will think about it. He said that for now, he wants to unite the party and take it forward.

Speaking about the Election Commission bribery case, he said that he will prove his innocence in the case.

On Thursday, a Delhi court granted bail to Dhinakaran and his close aide Mallikarjuna. Both of them had been lodged in Tihar jail in the capital.

The court asked them to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 5 lakh each and two sureties of the same amount. In addition to this, they have been warned against leaving the country without the permission of the court.

The Delhi court had also said that there was no apprehension of him fleeing and the police were yet to find out which Election Commission officer had been approached by Dhinakaran and his aides.

On April 25, 2017, TTV Dhinkaran was arrested by the Delhi police for allegedly trying to bribe the EC officials to get the two leaves symbol allotted to the party.
