Following the ‘ouster’ of AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran, the merged factions of the party burnt his effigies at Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district, which is the hometown of Sasikala.

Moreover, the AIADMK cadres even managed to remove Sasikala’s picture from a banner placed on top of the party office at Theradi street in Mannargudi.

While pictures of Sasikala were removed from party headquarters in Chennai, her pictures had so far been left untouched in Mannargudi, reported The Times of India.

Now, after the merger of the O Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palaniswami factions, the cadres dared to remove her pictures from the banners.

They also burnt the effigy of Dhinakaran and raised slogans against Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran.

ToI reported that the cadres also tore a banner which had the picture of Sasikala with former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

The supporters of Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran came and tried to stop the factions, after which police intervened and made both the groups disperse.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, after the merger, for the first time, both Edappadi Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam shared the stage at Ariyalur on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran.

O Panneerselvam said that no power can topple the government or the party and said that AIADMK will continue to rule the state for years to come.

However, Sasikala’s brother VK Dhivaharan said that they have the backing of 40 MLAs and want Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami to resign and a new government to be formed with Dhanapal as the Chief Minister, reported ToI.
