A 27-year-old engineering graduate committed suicide after jumping from the third floor of Vijaya Forum Mall in Vadapalani on Tuesday after an alleged argument with his girlfriend.
He was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
The deceased, P Yuvaraj, hails from Vellore district and according to reports, he had come to Forum Mall with his girlfriend. They both went to the food court and had a heated argument following which, Yuvaraj jumped off the building.
He was working as a tutor and living at a relative’s house in Saligramam for the last two years, reported The New Indian Express.
An investigating officer told TNIE that Yuvaraj and the girl had reached the mall around 11am and had lunch around 2:45pm at the food court. After this, he jumped from the third floor of the building.
The incident was recorded on a CCTV camera. He could be seen running fast towards a railing and jumping off.
Police said that the woman hailed from Dindigul and had come to Chennai along with her family to celebrate Diwali at a relative’s house.They had met three years ago and were in a relationship.
Yuvaraj had completed his engineering in computer science from a college in Krishnagiri and was training students at city colleges, reported ToI.
A case has been filed and investigation is in progress.
