Pongal is usually a busy time for people in Tamil Nadu. Relatives are home, big, elaborate feasts are prepared and there’s a lot of activity and visits planned for the next three days. For those of you who were not able to book tickets for films running in theatres, television becomes the next best option. And Pongal comes with redemption if you had missed out on a few big releases from last year.

While you’re busy enjoying this year’s bounty, we’ll make your channel browsing much easier with a list of films you can watch for this harvest festival from the comfort of your homes. From Karthi’s family entertainer Kadai Kutty Singam to crime thriller Ratsasan, here is the list of films and the TV schedules.

January 15 - Tuesday - Thai Pongal

Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 (VIP 2)

This sequel to Dhanush’s 2014 film has been scheduled for 11.30 am on Sun TV. Starring Dhanush, Kajol, Amala Paul and Vivek in lead roles, the film received a lukewarm response upon its release in 2017. But if you were a fan of the prequel, you might want to watch this one.

Sandakozhi 2

Vishal’s action entertainer, Sandakozhi 2, is a sequel to his 2005 hit titled Sandakozhi starring Meera Jasmine and Rajkiran in important roles. While the makers wanted to cash in on the phenomenal success of the prequel, Sandakozhi 2 did not have many things working for it. Starring Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Rajkiran, the film might be an enjoyable watch if you’re a fan of action sequences.

Vijay TV

Saamy 2

This goes to show just how many sequels were released in 2018. Tune in to Vijay TV at 11.00 am if you’re a fan of police officer Aarusaamy aka Saamy. The film has Vikram, Aishwarya Rajesh, Prabhi, Bobby Simha and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles.
