The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is all set to announce a state-wide campaign called ‘Idhem Kharma’. The 45-day campaign will be announced by the party chief and former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on November 19. The same day, a general body meeting of the party is also scheduled to be held at the Mangalagiri head office in Andhra Pradesh. The campaign will be launched on December 1 and will see the entire party cadre hitting the ground in all 175 constituencies across 26 districts in the state.

“The name ‘Idhem Kharma’ (what is this misfortune) is aimed at fixing accountability, highlighting anti-incumbency and holding the Jagan Mohan Reddy government responsible for the prevailing misfortune in the state. The campaign will also expose the false propaganda of the government and how they are using multiple mediums to highlight the same. In Andhra, whenever someone is suffering, they often ask ‘Idhem Kharma?’ and that is the same question this campaign will also highlight. The campaign aims to hold the government accountable for the prevailing suffering and pain,” revealed a party source.

As part of the campaign, the state will witness its party cadre hit the ground in their respective constituencies and reach out to people at the grassroots level. Everyone from Chandrababu Naidu to elected representatives and constituency level workers will be part of the campaign. According to the party estimates, around 50,000 party cadres will be part of the campaign. “The TDP wants this campaign to be a short but powerful campaign, and all efforts are being concentrated to make it a high impact, time-bound campaign,” added the source.

Once the campaign is announced on November 19, the next 10 days before the launch of the campaign will be used to train the party cadre. Arrangements are being made to impart training to nearly 10,000 party workers in every parliamentary constituency across the state. As part of the training, the party hopes to train the cadre about the issues to be highlighted and how to take the campaign forward efficiently.

The ‘Idhem Kharma’ campaign can be considered a prelude to the massive padayatra that will be launched by the TDP in the last week of January 2023. While the padayatra will highlight youth issues and will be led by Nara Lokesh who is the TDP general secretary and son of Chandrababu Naidu, this campaign is being planned as a mass movement by party workers. “Through this campaign, the TDP hopes to galvanise its force and send across the message that there is nothing that can now stop the TDP,” added the party leader.
