The News Minute | December 10, 2014 | 08:41 am ISTHookahs are set to return in Chennai after a Supreme Court ruling lifted the three year ban on the sale and use of hookahs in restaurants and hotels.On Monday, the SC set aside three high court judgements made in 2011 that upheld the prohibition of hookah, reported Times of India. In Chennai, many hookah haunts after the ban slowly converted their outlets into family restaurants, said the report. Following this , several cafes and restaurants in the city are looking to make a re-entry in this arena. Even though many claim that hookah is not as addictive and harmful as cigarettes, tobacco consultant Karthik Lakshmanan said that hookah has tobacco which could be harmful for the body, said the report.
